Tina's Famous "Funeral Cake" Recipe
"This recipe was originally given to my Mom by our family friend, Tina. This cake gets it's name from how it *literally* was served: at funerals.
The story goes that Tina would bring this cake to funerals because you couldn't help but feel cheered up by it. I mean, you guys, this cake is amazing. Thus the cake was named "Funeral Cake". I also like to think it's name is a nod to the saying "death by chocolate".
This cake is a seriously indulgent cake, that will satisfy the cravings of even the biggest chocolate fans!
The recipe below calls for regular chocolate chips, but we love using mini chocolate chips for the delicate bursts of chocolate they bring! You can also top this cake with whipped cream if desired.
